World Groundwater Reserves Being Depleted Faster Than Expected

In an upcoming issue of Geophysical Research Letters, a team of researchers from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands will report on a study indicating that not only is groundwater pumping rising at a dramatic rate but that evaporation and ultimately precipitation of pumped groundwater may be a partial cause of rising sea levels.
