Field Archaeologist

Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. of Tempe, AZ (ACS) is seeking resumes for a Field Archaeologist. A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and several months of previous field experience, preferably in Arizona, are required.

The duties of this position may regularly require standing, walking or climbing into and out of trenches and excavation units, using hands to manipulate items and to lift or carry them, talking, and hearing. They occasionally require crossing uneven terrain, climbing over fences, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Pay levels are competitive and commensurate with experience. The benefits that come with this position are holiday pay for up to 10 holidays when the office is closed and you have worked the work day before and the work day after the holiday, and one hour of sick leave earned for every 30 hours worked, up to a total of 40 hours per year under the new Arizona state law. The jobsite is in Phoenix so there is no lodging or per diem attached, and the project may last for as much as 8-10 weeks. There is the potential for follow-on work as well.
