Apache Junction Intelligent Transportation System Strategic Plan – GIS/Utilities, City of Apache Junction, Arizona

As a subconsultant on Kimley-Horn’s 2014 ADOT Project Development On-call Contract, ACS provided Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support and mapping products for an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Strategic Plan to guide the development and implementation of ITS within the City of Apache Junction. The Strategic Plan maps out a direction for the ITS program and develops a phased approach to integrating existing and new ITS infrastructure and systems to support traffic management, traveler information, incident management, inter-agency communication, and coordination, as well as major developments that will impact the city’s transportation network or operations strategy (downtown commercial development, large master planned residential development, etc.). ACS staff collected data from various sources to develop GIS layers for incorporation into the city’s existing and proposed asset management GIS database. Data were incorporated into multiple file geodatabases for existing and proposed (low, medium, and high) priorities, and used to produce cartographic mapping products in support of the Strategic Plan document.
