Clerical Assistant for Gila River Indian Community Cultural Resource Management Program through Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a Principal Investigator, this position is responsible for providing clerical support to the Cultural Resource Management Program in Sacaton, Arizona.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reliably reports for work each day, and working from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, which includes an unpaid half hour for lunch. Schedule is 1 hour later in the winter.
  • Learns and follows established procedures, asking questions when needed.
  • Must be able to work independently once parameters have been set and work cooperatively as part of a team as needed.
  • Completes clerical assignments to include: scanning, filing, digital file organization, data entry, and other related tasks as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint; experience with Microsoft Access would be of added value.

OR

  • Any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Anthropology B.A. (specialty: Archaeology). There is the potential for follow-on work in Archaeology with the B.A. This has been a great starter job for new graduates who don’t have much field experience.
  • Associate degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Two years prior work experience in an office environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to hear and speak.
  • Must be able to see/read a computer monitor screen.
  • Must be able to lift and carry fifteen (15) pounds.
  • Must be able to operate a copier/scanner.
  • Must be able to work diligently without interrupting others to chat.

HOURS, BENEFITS, AND PAY

  • This position is paid hourly and is covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • The starting pay rate will be $11.00 per hour, with the potential for an increase to $12.00 per hour if the work is of high quality.
  • Holiday pay (up to 10 days per year to be coordinated with the Community’s holidays which may not be the same as U.S. federal holidays) will depend on whether the employee has been working full-time and has worked the work day before and the work day after the holiday.
  • Sick leave will be accrued based on Arizona state law with 1 hour of paid sick leave accrued for every 30 hours worked, up to a total of 40 hours per year.
  • Eligibility for participation in a 401(k) program with ACS after six months of employment.
  • Eligibility for vacation pay after one year of full-time uninterrupted employment.
